What happens if I receive a spam text message?

Why did I receive a spam message?

Spammers randomly select 10-digit numbers to text, which is why you received the message. We cannot control which numbers send messages to other phone numbers, as that is outside Cadence and is at the gateway level. It would be like if someone's personal mobile phone received a spam text--there is not a way to prevent that ahead of time. Just know, it is completely random and you can block that number at any time. Nearly all of our institutions receive these types of messages from time to time (which led us to build the "Block" feature).

Does this impact our contact data or put us at risk?

No. None of your Cadence data is impacted if one of your users receives a spam text message. Incoming messages have nothing to do with security filters. The data the school has stored in the platform is not compromised, impacted, or at risk from an incoming spam message.

How do I block this number?

You can block any number using our " Block" feature. Blocking will stop all incoming messages from that number for you and the entire team.
